Effective October 1, Reiwa 7 (2025), the Government of India is replacing the old paper arrival/disembarkation card with a new Electronic Arrival Card (e-Arrival Card).
What You Need to Know:
Who Must Apply: All foreign travelers, including Japanese nationals, must complete the e-Arrival Card. (Indian citizens are exempt.)
When to Apply: You must fill out the form up to 72 hours before your scheduled arrival in India.
The Goal: This is a digital initiative to make the immigration process faster and smoother at the airport.
Transition Period: The paper form will still be accepted for a temporary period (up to six months), but using the new digital card is highly recommended for a faster experience.
